Black Oak Brewing Company: Epiphany No1

I recently came across an interesting release from Black Oak Brewing called Epiphany No1. This Belgian-style quadrupel is aged on cherry wood and its release marks the 15 year anniversary of The Black Oak Brewing Company.
This 9.5%, extra strong beer, pours a ruby red colour that borders on a burnt cherry brown. The foam is lingering and frothy, filled with large bubbles. Epiphany has an elaborate aroma that contains raisins, milk chocolate, toffee, and gentle hints of banana contributed by the yeast. On the palette, it matches closely to the aroma. Epiphany comes off a bit boozy up front, chased by flavours of dark fruit and cherries, finished by an oaky finish. As it warms up, the chocolate really comes forward and toffee becomes quite mellow.
