So I ran into Paul Dickey of Double Trouble Brewing this past week and asked him what's new in his world of beer. Paul was excited to tell me about his newest creation titled French Press Vanilla stout. That alone was just about all of the arm twisting required to get me to head out and pick up a can.

French Press Vanilla Stout comes in at 4.8% abv with low ibu's in the 10-20 range. It pours an opaque black with a delicate mocha foam. As expected, the bouquet of aroma is packed full of coffee, chocolate and delicious vanilla. As it warmed up, aromas of dark fruit like cherries come forward.

This is an easy to drink and balanced beer. For a beer of this style, I would expect a bit more body as it did come across on the lighter side. It has lots of semi-sweet coffee chased by hints of hazelnut and vanilla. It finishes clean and smooth with a late touch of dark cherry and roasty malt. For a stout beer it's quite refreshing and thirst quenching.

My Rating: C+
